FORM ANALYSIS

The toaster has changed little since it’s first design; it can be inefficient, ugly and even dangerous. Form analysis from existing rugged and streamline design, led to a variety of forms that inspired the final product.

IDEATION

Fast sketch ideation developed ideas focused on function, internal components and form.

STORYBOARD

The toaster is simple using intuitive controls, a supporting Bluetooth app, internal heating components and a flowing aesthetic structure. The concept was to merge an everyday kitchen gadget with a piece of art and have a toaster desired as much for its design as for its function.

A toaster you can proudly place in the middle of a counter, aimed for those with an eye for style. Speculo is safer with inaccessible heating elements contained within the walls of the toaster, an in-built safety system, and increased energy efficiency with the option of selecting
individual bread slots.
