ORBIS
Complex Islamic inspired patterns, confined within centered rings, define Orbis as an outdoor sculpture. Created in polished laser-cut aluminium, this sculpture emphases its environment and provides a frame as if inviting the viewer to look through a portal to another world.

The client wanted to keep the original RURSAS theme but in a different representation. A solid ellipse was placed within the concentric patterned circles to increase contrast, and the idea of motion was shown avoiding any moving parts thus making the structure stronger.

The above are a few insights to the form and characteristics of Orbis. The polished aluminium lets the viewer indulge in it's complexity, while having a solid ring of reflection encompassing the environment around them. The small solid discs at the axis act to dissipate stress and create an extended welding surface.
